Following the confrontation at the War Heroes' Monument, the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court ordered an investigation on May 20th into allegations that Wimal Weerawansa and his group obstructed police duty and entered the monument premises without permission. Subsequently, on May 25th, Wimal Weerawansa and Indradasa Weerawansa were released on Rs. 5 lakh bail each by the Kaduwela Magistrate, facing charges including criminal force against a police officer and disobeying police orders. The case has been postponed to August 25th.
