A committee, chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge S. Thurairaja, has submitted a comprehensive report detailing recommendations for establishing a systematic, fair, and transparent process for granting presidential pardons to convicted inmates. The report was officially handed over yesterday (10) to Ayesha Jinadasa, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, at the ministry. Appointed by the Cabinet last year, the committee reviewed existing procedures and legal frameworks. The submitted recommendations aim to enhance the administrative procedures within the prison sector for presidential clemency.
