Commissioner General of Motor Traffic Granted Bail in Registration Irregularity Case

Kamal Amarasinghe, the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, was granted bail on April 20 by Pilessa Magistrate W.M.M.I. Wasala. He was released on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two surety bails of Rs. 200,000 each. The court also imposed an overseas travel ban on Mr. Amarasinghe, ordering the impounding of his passport. His arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on March 27 stemmed from an investigation into alleged irregularities concerning vehicle registration. The case is scheduled to be heard again on May 11.
