The Colombo High Court today (14) rejected a preliminary objection filed by the defence in a case concerning Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The defence had argued that a charge of conspiracy, brought under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, could not be maintained. High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga dismissed the objection, ruling it lacked merit and that the charge could proceed. Following the court's decision, Yoshitha Rajapaksa pleaded not guilty to the charges read out in open court.
