The Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar has announced that the verdict in the case against former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara will be delivered on July 31. Jayasundara faces charges of criminal negligence and dereliction of duty for allegedly failing to act on intelligence warnings prior to the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks. The trial, heard by a three-judge bench including Judges Priyantha Liyanage, Viraj Weerasooriya, and Thilakarathne Bandara, has concluded its oral and written submissions. The case was filed by the Attorney General.
