Canadian Teenager Arrested at BIA with 36kg Hashish Valued at Rs. 352 Million

Sri Lanka Customs officers at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have arrested an 18-year-old Canadian national in connection with a significant drug trafficking attempt. The suspect was apprehended with 36 kilograms of hashish, estimated to be worth over Rs. 352 million. She had arrived on an Emirates flight from Toronto via Dubai, with the contraband reportedly concealed within her luggage. The arrest was made during routine checks by the Customs Narcotics Control Unit, and preliminary investigations are underway, with the suspect expected to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court.
