Canada and UNDP Enhance Sri Lanka's DNA Forensic Capacity

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with financial support from the Government of Canada, has delivered 17 pieces of critical equipment to Sri Lanka's Government Analyst's Department. This initiative aims to significantly boost the nation's DNA testing capacity and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of forensic analysis. Key equipment includes an RT-PCR machine, PCR system, and Crime Lite Serology Kit. The assistance is part of a UNDP project focused on ensuring justice for victim survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and other crimes. The handover ceremony took place at the department's premises in Battaramulla.
