Cabinet Spokesperson: Ex-SIS Chief Sallay Not Mistreated, Urged to Aid Easter Attack Probe

Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated that former State Intelligence Service Director Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, currently in remand custody, has not been subjected to torture or illegal treatment. Speaking at the cabinet media briefing on September 16th, Minister Jayatissa emphasized that Sallay is being handled under standard remand procedures. He also urged Sallay, given his background as an intelligence and military officer, to fully cooperate with investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks by disclosing all relevant information. The minister suggested that Sallay's best course of action is to assist the inquiry rather than withhold information.
