The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has seized nearly 8,500 bottles and containers of drinking water in Avissawella, allegedly bearing a counterfeit Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) certification mark. The raid uncovered water produced at a facility in Amithirigala, Ruwanwella, and stored in an Avissawella warehouse. Preliminary investigations revealed that bottles of various sizes, from 500ml to 19 litres, were falsely labeled with the SLS mark and certificate number 894. The stock was reportedly prepared for distribution but had not yet been released to the market. The CAA has stated that legal action will be pursued against those responsible.
