A 74-year-old man was fatally shot at his Boralesgamuwa residence on Friday night, September 4, 2026. Preliminary police investigations suggest the shooting, carried out by two individuals on a motorcycle using a pistol, was an underworld-linked assassination attempt that went awry. Authorities believe the gunmen, allegedly orchestrated by an individual known as "Dehiwala Sando," intended to target the victim's son, who reportedly works as a collector for "Kos Malli." The assailants reportedly missed their intended target and shot the father instead before fleeing the scene. Boralesgamuwa Police are conducting further investigations to apprehend the suspects.
