Sri Lanka Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) arrested a 38-year-old man from Ragama on April 2, 2026, for attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of "Kush" cannabis. The suspect, identified as a motorcycle silencer repairman, arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-403. Customs discovered 25.5 kg of the narcotic, estimated to be worth Rs. 255 million, concealed within 16 exhaust silencers packed across his four suitcases. The individual remains in custody as further investigations are underway.
