Police in Sri Lanka's Batticaloa district conducted a large-scale excavation on Wednesday, May 13th, in the Manmunai area of the Kattankudy Police Division. The operation was initiated based on intelligence suggesting that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) had buried a cache of suspected firearms near a residential property during the civil war. The excavation, authorized by an order from the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court, involved digging to a depth of approximately 20 feet. Despite the extensive search, which took place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM under strict security, authorities confirmed that no weapons were discovered. Following the conclusion of the operation, the excavated site was completely refilled.
