Banquet and Catering Services Announce Price Hikes Amid Economic Pressures

The All Island Banquet Owners and Caterers Association announced an increase in fees for reception halls and catering services, effective today, April 8th. The association stated that new bookings made from May onwards will see charges rise by 15% to 20%. Additionally, a 10% price increase will be applied to services that have already been booked. This decision, communicated at a media briefing by Association President Akila Jayaratne, was attributed to the ongoing fuel crisis, recent VAT revisions, and the rapid increase in raw material and commodity prices. The association indicated these measures are necessary to sustain the industry amidst severe economic challenges.
