Aswesuma Scheme: Rs. 500 Million Overpaid to 49,759 Beneficiaries; Funds Unrecovered

The Free Lawyers Organization has called for a parliamentary investigation into alleged financial irregularities within the Aswesuma welfare scheme. The organization claims that a significant number of beneficiaries received double payments or amounts exceeding the stipulated bonus for April 2026. These alleged excess payments are estimated to total approximately Rs. 500 million, affecting nearly 1.73 million families. The group described the situation as a "collapse in state financial management" and has likened it to previous financial discrepancies.
