Aswasuma April Elderly Allowance Credited Today

The Welfare Benefits Board has confirmed that the April allowance under the Aswasuma welfare benefit scheme has been credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. A total of LKR 3.087 billion has been allocated for 617,406 elders over 70 in the first phase. Additionally, LKR 362.625 million is being disbursed to 72,525 elders over 70 in the second phase of the scheme. This brings the total disbursement for April to over LKR 3.4 billion for more than 680,000 beneficiaries. The National Secretariat for Elders previously indicated that while some payments might be collected via post offices, all allowances for beneficiaries will transition to bank account disbursements starting from June 2026.

The April installment of the Aswasuma elderly allowance is being credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts today, April 22nd. This confirms the disbursement for the previously announced 617,406 senior citizens over 70 years of age and 72,525 beneficiaries under the second phase. Beneficiaries can now access their allowance through their Aswasuma accounts.

The Welfare Benefits Board has announced that the April installment of the Aswasuma elderly allowance will be disbursed to bank accounts tomorrow, April 22nd. A total of 689,931 beneficiaries are eligible to receive their payments. Over Rs. 3.447 Billion has been released to banks for these disbursements. This includes 617,406 senior citizens over 70 years of age under the first phase, receiving Rs. 3,087,030,000, and 72,525 beneficiaries under the second phase, receiving Rs. 360,625,000.
