The final rites of Lance Corporal A.P. Mariyalujisan, attached to the 12 (V) Engineer Services Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Services, were conducted with full military honours on Friday (01) at the Sawathi Public Cemetery in Kilinochchi, Ayiavkachchi. The soldier, who joined the army in June 2014, had sustained severe injuries during a train accident in Murikandy on April 19, 2026. Following the accident, he was receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital before passing away.
