A Sri Lankan Army Lance Corporal has been remanded after being arrested by the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission (CIABOC) on charges of soliciting and accepting a bribe. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Sajith Sameera Dissanayake, attached to the Pandulagama Army Camp in Anuradhapura, allegedly took LKR 129,600 from a retired soldier. He is accused of promising to assist the retired serviceman in obtaining a financial aid package of LKR 2,500,000 to settle his pension loan. Following his arrest, the Lance Corporal was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court and remanded until January 8th.
