Pushpamal, a recipient of the Parama Weera Vibhushana, at their home in Giritale on April 22nd. Corporal Pushpamal, serving in the 2nd Commando Regiment, made the supreme sacrifice on April 21, 2009, while rescuing civilians during a humanitarian operation in Puthumathalan at the age of 22. The Commander also recently visited residents at the Abhimansala-1 wellness resort for disabled war heroes in Anuradhapura, checking on their welfare and providing essential aid like wheelchairs.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne visited the family of Sergeant H.P.S. Bandara, a decorated war hero from the 4th Battalion, Vijayaba Infantry Regiment. Sergeant Bandara, who received the Param Vir Chakra (PWV) and Rana Shura (RSP) medals, made the supreme sacrifice on May 17, 2009, near the Nandikadal Lagoon while displaying exceptional bravery and leadership to protect his comrades. The Commander visited the family at their home in Hevadiwela, Dulmune to inquire about their well-being.
