Armed Robbery Attempt at Trincomalee Liquor Shop; Two Suspects Apprehended

Two individuals have been apprehended following an attempted armed robbery at a liquor shop located at Anuradhapura Junction in Trincomalee. The suspects, who arrived on a motorcycle around 9:45 PM on September 18th, allegedly used a T-56 assault rifle to threaten employees and attempted to steal cash. During the incident, one suspect reportedly fired shots into the air to intimidate staff. Police initiated a pursuit and successfully arrested the two men within approximately one hour of the incident, recovering the stolen money. One of the arrested individuals has been identified as a sergeant.
