Angunakolapelassa Prison Sees Inmate Death Amidst Fever Outbreak, Operations Halted

A 45-year-old inmate has died at Angunakolapelassa Prison following hospitalization due to a sudden illness, officials confirmed. The death occurred yesterday (21st) after the inmate was admitted to the Angunakolapelassa Regional Hospital, though the exact cause remains undetermined. Concurrently, a viral fever outbreak has been reported in one ward of the prison. In response, the Department of Prisons has temporarily suspended the transfer of inmates to courts and from other facilities to Angunakolapelassa to control the spread of the illness.
