Aluthgama Train Crossing Tragedy: Three-Wheeler Driver Killed

A tragic accident occurred at a railway crossing in Aluthgama on the evening of June 10, 2026, resulting in the death of a three-wheeler driver. The collision happened at the Depot Road crossing when the three-wheeler, travelling from Dharga Town towards Aluthgama, attempted to cross the tracks. Preliminary police investigations indicate the accident occurred due to careless driving as the Office Express train, en route from Maradana to Hikkaduwa, approached. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, died on the spot. Reports suggest the train signals were active at the time of the incident.
