A shooting incident occurred in Ahungalla on April 16th, around 11:30 PM, targeting an individual known as Podi Patty. Police confirmed that Podi Patty, identified as the brother of notorious organized criminal Loku Patty and reportedly linked to organized crime himself, was traveling in a three-wheeler when the attack took place. He was returning home after attending a New Year's event in the Bogahapitiya area. Despite the gunfire, Podi Patty was not injured, reportedly escaping by jumping from the vehicle. Authorities state that the assailants, described by some sources as two individuals on a motorcycle, remain unidentified. The Ahungalla Police have launched further investigations into the incident.

The arrest of the suspect in connection with the attempted shooting of 'Podi Patty' was made by Ahungalla Police Special Task Force officers acting on a tip-off they received. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the attempted shooting of "Podi Patty," brother of notorious criminal "Loku Patty." The arrest was made by Ahungalla Police Special Task Force officers yesterday (April 17th) while the suspect was hiding in a lodge in Heagalla, Kosgoda. The 45-year-old suspect, a resident of Pitigoda, Kosgoda, was also found in possession of 13 grams and 760 milligrams of 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) at the time of his arrest. The shooting incident, which occurred on April 16th, targeted "Podi Patty" near the Lokanwatta Cemetery in Ahungalla.
