AG's Stance Awaited in Ranil Wickremesinghe State Funds Misuse Case

The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has adjourned the case against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake until September 30. The court, presided over by Magistrate Pasan Amarasena, ordered the Attorney General (AG) to present their position on the legal action to be taken regarding the alleged misappropriation of public funds. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the court that its investigations into the matter, concerning an alleged private visit to the United Kingdom using state funds, have been completed, with relevant extracts forwarded to the AG. Former President Wickremesinghe was present at the court proceedings today.
