The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, has introduced a new insurance scheme specifically for divers. This initiative aligns with the government's broader fisheries policy proposals. Under the scheme, a payment of Rs. 1.2 million will be provided in the event of a diver's death while engaged in fishing-related activities. Fishermen can obtain one year of coverage by paying an annual premium of Rs. 1,920, with other coverage plans also available.
