Agalawatta Deputy Chairman Resigns Citing Unheeded Proposals and Development Setbacks

Indika Jayalath, Deputy Chairman of the Agalawatta Pradeshiya Sabha and a member of an independent group that supported the ruling coalition, has resigned from his position. He submitted his resignation letter on June 26th, coinciding with the completion of his first year in office. Jayalath stated that his proposals were not being considered and that council activities were proceeding without his knowledge. The resignation letter also detailed specific development failures, including the stalled Agalawatta urban plan and lack of progress on a judicial complex and new police station. He has also resigned from his committee memberships.
