Twenty-one individuals deported from Dubai, suspected of involvement in organized crime and drug trafficking, have arrived in Sri Lanka. New details have emerged regarding the 21 Sri Lankan nationals deported from Dubai. Police have confirmed that two of the deported individuals had Interpol Red Notices issued against them. Among the deported are prominent figures 'Mahawatte Chamara' and 'Vanathe Kudu Duminda', for whom Sri Lankan police had previously issued Red Notices. They were reportedly arrested in the UAE during a party. 'Kudu Duminda' is specifically accused of leading a shooting incident in Borella on August 8, 2025, which resulted in two deaths and three injuries. The group, including 19 men and 2 women, arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. Police also stated that six individuals among the group had prior accusations for various offences including drug trafficking, shootings, murders, fraud, criminal breach of trust, and assault.

The deportation was reportedly due to allegations of spreading news on social media supporting Iran. Police also confirmed that two of the deported individuals had Red Notices issued against them. The group arrived in Sri Lanka via Mattala and will be handed over to the Central Crime Division and the Colombo Crime Division for further investigations.
