16-Year-Old Drowns in Kantale Canal While Bathing with Friends

A 16-year-old boy identified as Rislaan, a resident of Perathuweli, drowned in a canal within the Kantale police division. The incident occurred while he was bathing with three friends. Rislaan had reportedly appeared for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) examination earlier this year. Following the accident, local residents and youth initiated a search operation, ultimately recovering his body approximately 300 meters from the location where he had been bathing. The Kantale Police are currently conducting further investigations into the tragic incident.
