Two workers sustained injuries when a section of a multi-storey building collapsed in Kandy on May 24th. The incident occurred around 11:30 AM along E.L. Senanayake Mawatha, near a fuel filling station. Police stated that a protruding concrete section on the second floor of the business premises broke off and fell, causing the accident. The injured individuals, identified as residents of Hasalaka and Dehiattakandiya, were admitted to Peradeniya Teaching Hospital. One worker was reportedly trapped under debris before being rescued by bystanders. Kandy Police are conducting further investigations.
