The incident occurred on the evening of May 18th at a shop in Angoda, Mulleriyawa, where the suspect, a three-wheeler driver, reportedly poured petrol on his wife and ignited it. He confessed to the crime, citing a family dispute and suspicion over her associations as the motive. The victim sustained severe burns to her face and chest and is currently in critical condition in the ICU of Colombo National Hospital.
